Christmas!

Monday, December 23rd, 2002

Well I’m home, enjoying good ole fashioned home fare, and diligently ensuring that my time here is as uneventful and lazy as possible.

At least, that’s what I’ve been doing up until now. My family and I (and Phil – ever a tagger-on) went to see the latest Harry Potter movie this evening, and while that Malfoy kid is still played by possibly the worst actor in the world, the rest of the film was largely well presented. Sometimes it didn’t quite gel though – not enough time spent developing Ginny’s character and too much Quidditch, for example.

Listen to me, I’m sounding like a Potterite. Hmph.

I’m going to see the Two Towers soon! No, I don’t want to know what happens – I want it to be a surprise! Like “Titanic”.

Well, enough rambling, back to making sure the telly doesn’t fall off its table. Requires constant surveillance, I’m sure you’ll agree ^_^

Accenture

Friday, December 20th, 2002

Got an email from Accenture yesterday saying I’ve been successful in the first round of applications (filtering the online application forms).
They’ll be contacting me in January about arranging an interview.

This is wonderful news by the way – it means I’ll have a chance to put myself forward in a more face to face way.

Working at Accenture would be great – solving real life problems is what I got into the computing industry to do, so consulting is the way to go. Accenture in particular seems to do things properly, so I’d really like to work with them.

Back from Paris!

Thursday, December 19th, 2002

I can honestly say that Paris is a lovely city. No, really.
As we didn’t have much time, we had to skip the Louvre, though we did manage to fit in the Eiffel Tower, Concorde, le Champs Elysees, l’Arc de Triomphe, and many other things including the Rodin museum (Rodin did the sculpture “Le Penseur”).
It was cold though. Really really really cold.

Funnily enough I couldn’t find any litter on the Champs Elysees. Even though there were no bins. Not in keeping with my experience of cities – maybe the French actually care about the state of their streets.

Paris

Sunday, December 15th, 2002

Tomorrow afternoon I’m travelling to Paris for a few days with my sister Kim and a friend (Phil Chapman). Should be great fun, though it means I need to pack this evening, and make sure I get up before 12pm. These things are always hard to achieve.

We return at 7pm on Wednesday, so I’ll be missing the last Kempo session of the pre-Christmas period, but these things happen :/ On another Kempo note, grading will be in February, at a general Kempo seminar held over a weekend. Looking forward to meeting other Kempo peeps, as I didn’t make it to Mizuno-sensei’s restaurant this evening…

Well, I’m off to pack, maybe watch some anime, and get some sleep.

More drawing goodness

Following a revelation that I was using a fair amount of space on Rob’s (rather limited) webspace, I’ve set up Gallery here as a module for PostNuke (well, I said it could expand didn’t I?).

The “Gallery” link on the left will do everything you expect.
